Sales Tax Rate Change in Certain Ohio Counties Starting April 1st: What You Need to Know

Starting April 1st, certain counties in Ohio will experience changes in their local sales tax rates. For businesses operating in these counties, it’s essential to update your sales tax rate calculations to reflect the new local rates.

Affected Counties:

  • Delaware County’s COTA District : Increase from 7.5% to 8.0% effective April 1, 2025. * Delaware County’s non-COTA District will remain at 7.0%. 

  • Fairfield County’s COTA District: Increase from 7.25% to 7.75% effective April 1, 2025. * Fairfield County’s non-COTA District will remain at 6.75%. 

  • Franklin County’s sales and use tax: Increase from 7.5% to 8.0% effective April 1, 2025. 

  • Licking County’s COTA District: Increase from 7.75% to 8.25% effective April 1, 2025. * Licking County’s non-COTA District will remain at 7.25%. 

  • Union County’s COTA District: Increase from 7.5% to 8.0% effective April 1, 2025. * Union County’s non-COTA District will remain at 7.0%.
